Making production sustainable

Today, I spoke at the Los Angeles Business Council's Sustainability Series Lunch Forum on a panel entitled: How do we Sustain and Grow Los Angeles’ Entertainment Industry?

We discussed the topic of "sustainability" both in terms of keeping filming in L.A. as well as encouraging productions to take advantage of cost savings and other benefits that go along with consuming less energy and water.

I've been a strong advocate of keeping production in Los Angeles. It's a vital part of our economy because it provides so many middle class jobs and also because it attracts tourists from all over the world visit Hollywood because of its connection to the entertainment industry.

As far as greening productions, industry professionals who participated in today's discussion stressed their commitment to the environment through the use of hybrid production vehicles, bio-diesel generators, LED lighting, and other innovative green technologies.
