Celebrate National Community Garden Week

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has declared August 23-29 National Community Garden Week. Take some time this week to stop by your local community garden. Bring your family, take a tour, and consider investing time into cultivating herbs, fruits and vegetables in your own plot.

Here are some of the community gardens in Council District 13:

Fountain Community Garden, 5260 Fountain Ave.
Opened this summer, Fountain Community Garden is Hollywood’s newest community garden. The garden was created by local residents who transformed an empty lot into a community space.

Jardin del Rio, Riverdale at Crystal Street
This community garden was built at the site of a former nuisance property. The garden features a gazebo and custom designed gates.

Rosewood Ave. Community Garden, 4160 1/2 Rosewood Ave.
