Volunteers Needed for the 2011 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count

In 2009, over 4,000 Angelenos came together for the largest homeless count in the nation. Over 50,000 homeless men, women and children were identified, providing data that is critical to addressing the complexities of homelessness and planning how to best invest public resources, raise public awareness, identify the needs of homeless people, and improve service delivery opportunities to prevent and eliminate homelessness in Southern California.

The Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count will take place again, January 25th through the 27th, 2011 in the following areas:

  • Tuesday, January 25: San Gabriel Valley and East LA County
  • Wednesday, January 26: South Bay and West LA
  • Thursday, January 27: Antelope Valley, Metro Los Angeles, South Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita Valley
Volunteers are teamed up, trained, given all needed supplies, and deployed to designated areas within the County to enumerate the homeless in one night. Volunteers will be expected to devote approximately three hours of their time.
