Atwater Village officially became part of the City of Los Angeles 100 years ago, and the Atwater Village Residents Association and my office wanted to make sure this momentous milestone was marked in style.
So we worked together -- along with the tireless members of the planning committee, the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council, and so many other community members and organizations -- to make sure the celebration held last Sunday delivered. I'm happy to say that it did. Thousands of residents and visitors came to Glendale Boulevard for food, music, and to be welcomed by the local businesses there.
In the long-run, I am hopeful that those new visitors who discovered the vibrant and pedestrian-friendly business district on Glendale Blvd. will come again and again.
