Hollywood gets more police officers

Today, I joined Mayor Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Bratton in announcing the addition of 40 LAPD officers to Hollywood's Entertainment District, which will mean more foot patrol officers on our streets to make Hollywood a safer place to work, visit, and live.

Last year, Hollywood saw the greatest reduction in crime compared with every part of the city. Hollywood is a case-in-point that stronger neighborhoods bring families, investment, and tourism, and that an assurance of public safety can truly turn a neighborhood around. We’ve seen more than $2 billion invested in the neighborhood, and as the number of visitors to Hollywood increases, a focus on public safety is even more crucial.

Although Hollywood is one of the biggest areas of Los Angeles, the neighborhood had not received any significant increase in police officer deployment in almost a decade. Now, we’ve changed that.
